Chelsea McFarland

Front Ensemble Instructor: Cadets Winter Percussion

Chelsea McFarland obtained her Bachelor of Music in Music Education Degree from the University of Delaware. She had the pleasure of studying percussion under Jim Ancona, Orlando Cotto and Harvey Price. She was also given the opportunity to obtain a minor in Applied Bassoon and studied under Jon Gaarder. While at UD, Chelsea performed in the Front Ensemble with the Blue Hen Marching Band, traveling with the band to perform in the 2008 Presidential Inaugural Parade during her time there. She also participated in other concert ensembles such as the wind ensemble, symphony orchestra, percussion ensemble and Delaware Steel, with which she completed a one-week international tour to Greece in 2012.

In 2008, Chelsea played marimba with the Bushwackers Drum & Bugle Corps, where she received the Rookie of the Year Award. She also held a spot in the vibraphone line in the Reading Buccaneers in 2013. In addition, Chelsea traveled to Trinidad and Tobago for four weeks to play with the Supernovas Steel Orchestra, who came in third place in the small band category in the National Panorama Festival in 2013.

Chelsea has been teaching front ensemble since 2009 and currently teaches three front ensembles across New Jersey: Timber Creek High School in Sicklerville, West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North in Plainsboro and West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South in West Windsor. She resides in Cranbury, NJ on a six-acre horse farm.
