Travis Peterman

Caption Supervisor: Cadets Winter Percussion

Travis was born in Newark, Delaware. He began playing the drums in fifth grade, performing with school concert and jazz bands. After high school, he became interested in the marching arts, successfully auditioning for WGI World Class group United Percussion for the 2009 season. His first drum corps experience was in the snare line for the 11-time DCA World Champion Reading Buccaneers during the summer of 2009. The Buccaneers percussion section set a record by receiving a 20.0 in both the field and ensemble captions.

In 2010, Travis returned to United Percussion for the winter season and went on to march with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps during the summer. In the winter of 2011, he performed with three-time WGI World Champion Rhythm X, winning the Visual caption. Travis returned to Rhythm X in 2012 for his age-out year, where he performed as part of the first WGI group to be featured at PASIC.

Travis has taught and arranged for various high schools in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ohio, including perennial WGI Open-Class contender Upper Darby High School and the 2009 WGI A-Class Champion Timber Creek High School. He began teaching drum corps in 2012 as the snare technician for Cadets2 and returned to C2 in 2013 in the same role, also providing assistance with body movement for the visual caption. In 2013, he assumed the position of Show Coordinator for WGI A-Class finalist Imperial Dynasty, while also arranging the ensemble's battery book. He was recently named the Caption Supervisor for the inaugural season of Cadets Winter Percussion in 2014.

Travis has studied under many accomplished instructors, including Tom Aungst, Tim Jackson, Jim Ancona, Joel Hilbert, Tim Fairbanks, Brian Stockard, Darick Kelly, Rich Hammond and Chris Feist. Outside of the percussion world, Travis holds an Associate Degree in criminal justice and is currently studying behavioral science at Wilmington University. He also works at UPS and gives private lessons.
