John Gangale of Midland Park, N.J.

Gangale performed with the Holy Name Cadets in 1957 as a solo soprano player. He entered Army basic training in 1961 and progressed through his military career as an officer and leader until retiring in 1997 as a lieutenant colonel in the US Army Reserves.

In addition to his military responsibilities, Gangale was able to earn a doctoral degree at Columbia University. He retired after 28 years as a special education teacher and school administrator from New Jersey Public Schools. He also retired as an assistant professor at William Patterson University. Gangale currently serves as an education mentor at Montclair State University.
