Dr. Iain Moyer
Front Ensemble Caption Supervisor & Arranger

The 2014 DCI season will be Iain Moyer's eighth summer with The Cadets. He has served as the Front Ensemble Supervisor/Arranger since 2009, and worked as a front ensemble technician with the corps in 2007 and 2008.

He came to The Cadets with over 10 years of experience in the Drum Corps International activity, including arranging and teaching positions with the Madison Scouts, the Glassmen, the Crossmen, and Magic of Orlando. 

Prior to his DCI teaching career, Iain performed in the Star of Indiana’s Brass Theatre in 1996, and the Crossmen Front Ensembles in 1997 and 1998.

Iain also currently serves as the Director of Percussion Studies/Assistant Director of Bands at the University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama. His duties at UNA include serving as the Director of the “Pride of Dixie” Percussion Section and the UNA Percussion and Marimba Ensembles. Dr. Moyer also teaches the Percussion Methods classes, Applied Percussion Lessons, as well as co-conducts the UNA Wind Symphony. 

Dr. Moyer’s percussion ensembles at UNA have been featured at regional and state “Days of Percussion”, and the UNA “Pride of Dixie” Percussion Section will be one of three featured collegiate groups to perform at the 2013 PASIC Marching Percussion Festival.

Iain received his Doctoral of Musical Arts and Masters Degrees from the University of Oklahoma. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts. His past teachers include Richard Gipson, Thom Hannum, Eduardo Leandro, Leigh Howard Stevens, Peter Tanner and Lance Drege.



Iain is also a highly sought-after Front Ensemble Arranger throughout the country, writing numerous shows for awarding-winning groups in the WGI, BOA, and UIL circuits.
